Dog House Doors
The typical outdoor dog house does not have a door. There are times when dog house doors are necessary or desirable. You can find not only dog houses with doors already installed, but also make your own door for an existing dog house. Either way your pet is sure to appreciate their comfortable dwelling place. Whether or not your dog lives outdoors all the time or only visits his or her dog house occasionally, a door can help shield them from cold temperatures and rainy weather.
The type of door needed depends on the type of dog house you have. A traditional wood dog house can easily be converted by adding a weatherproof canvas flap to the doorway. Petco sells doors for their Petmate brand dog houses. These doors are crafted from vinyl and are bolted into the door opening with included hardware. There are many different styles of Petmate houses including igloo, indigo and barnhome style. Another thing needed for a dog house is proper bedding material. Cedar chips are ideal for most any season. Your dog might also have a favorite blanket or a favorite toy you would like to put in the dog house for them. Whether your dog spends every night in the dog house or only certain nights, they will enjoy special touches like this. You might also want to include a rawhide bone for your dog to chew on. Don't put too many items in your dog's house to ensure there is plenty of room for him or her to be comfortable.
Dog house doors can be made or bought. The right door all depends on the type of dog house you have. You may want to do some Internet research based on your dog house to see what type of door is recommended. Forums and message boards about dog ownership can also be a great source of advice about every subject related to your pet including dog houses and doors. The main goal is that your dog has a comfortable, safe place to sleep when they need to.
